History of LHS
Lubbock Centennial

Many of you may not know or remember Grant Teaff. He was an assitant football and boys PE coach in 1956 at Lubbock High. That was our first year at LHS. He was there only one year and then went on into college coaching. Grant had an extraordinary coaching carear.  At Baylor University his record is  considered "The Miracle on the Brazos."  He was offered jobs at Major Universities with hughs dollar offers and turned them down to stay at Baylor. After retiring from coaching, Teaff in 1993 became executive director of the American Football Coaches Association, an organization (headquartered in Waco) that represents coaches across the nation and is often consulted by the NCAA and the media regarding rule changes and developments that take place in college football.

Here are a few links that will tell you more about another great person who for a while spent time in the Halls of Lubbock High School.
